What's in a Name ... or How to Royally (BLEEP) Your 15 Minutes.

Today was Halloween on The Price Is Right with Drew and company dressed in reverence to their favorite pricing games. Rich Fields (sp?) went as the big wheel, Drew was the mountaineer from cliffhangers, beauties dressed as a cash register and a pricing meter from various games.

Prizes, likewise, were all hallows themed. A light up skull, a Gucci watch on a severed hand, and a pot of boiling witch's brew. Disappointingly a pair of pirate costumes were bid on ... and expensive.

Most harrowing was the showcase showdown where contestant number one bid 4,200 dollars for three trips around the world. A nervous bid as the crowd booed what was originally intended to be a frightful overbid of 42 thousand.

This led to what would have been the easiest showcase win in the history of the Price if, that is, contestant two wasn't a brain dead zombie. With a LCD TV, a pair of decked-out lounge chairs, and a SUV decked out as a hearse he turned to the crowd for advice. Now he could have bid low, ridiculously low, but reasonable and won. He could have thought for a second, one second, and bid maybe what a low cost car goes for ... and won. But he didn't. He stared to the crowd, got confused by various shouts and fingers held high then bid ... 4,200 dollars.

Drew was confused, made some jokes about odd pricing choices and cut to commercial. Contestant two lost after the break, showcases with cars are generally more expensive (have you ever seen this show?) and contestant one's confusion paid off.

Now maybe contestant two did it to be nice, to give contestant one a fighting chance, understood that contestant one had made a colossal mistake and said,"Hey, we all make mistakes, but you probably need three trips more than I need a new car." Or maybe contestant two was just a huge (BLEEPING) dumbass.

Tune in next time for more (or less) PIR updates. (Less because I start a new job and don't have Tivo.)

Happy tricks.
